(для государственных коммунальных предприятий - с 1929 г.); наиболее известен промышленный индекс Доу Джонса (Dow Jones Industrial Average - DJIA), включающий акции 30 ведущих промышленных компаний и компаний Американ Экспресс и Американ Телефон и Телеграф; базовый год индекса - 1928 г.; он рассчитывается в пунктах, а не долларах, путем сложения цен на закрытия и использования поправочного коэффициента, учитывающего сплиты, дивиденды акциями, слияния и др.; данный индекс представляет 15-20% Нью-Йоркской фондовой биржи; известны индексы 20 транспортных предприятий (Dow Jones Transportation Average - DJTA), 15 географически репрезентативных газовых и электрических компаний (Dow Jones Utilities Average - DJUA), а также композиционный индекс, объединяющий все три указанных индекса (Dow Jones Composite - 65 Stock Average); рассчитываются также индексы для облигаций: репрезентативный индекс для шести групп облигаций - Dow Jones 40 Bond Average, а также еженедельный индекс ведущих муниципальных безналоговых облигаций - Dow Jones Municipal Bond Yield Average; фирма "Доу Джонс" отказалась разрешить использовать свои индексы для опционных и фьючерских контрактов. -
